Alpha Phi was founded on October 10, 1872 at Syracuse University by 10 founding sisters who wanted to earn women an accepted place within society. These founders did exactly that and 117 years later, Cortland’s Eta Tau Chapter was chartered on April 30, 1989. In fact, there are over 300,000 sisters across the U.S. & Canada. The legacies, traditions, and purposes left behind by the founders have allowed young women to grow here at students, individuals and sisters and have provided an opportunity that will prepare women for life far beyond college.
