Our Philanthropy

Alpha Phi is well known and respected internationally as a prominent philanthropic leader for the Greek community, with our chapters raising hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.
Each year the Foundation awards the Heart to Heart Cardiac Care grant to an organization focused on women's cardiac research.
Here at SUNY Cortland, we have an annual Teetor-Totter-A-Thon which every member of our chapter participates in for 24 hours to help raise money & awareness for women’s cardiac health. We have also participated in a Zumba-thon and red dress gala which we intend to commit to again this year.

Alpha Phi is called a "fraternity" because it was founded before the word "sorority" was coined.

Alpha Phi was the first women's society to use Greek letters.

In 1957, Alpha Phi became the first women's fraternity to establish a Foundation.

Alpha Phi is the only organization that has twice received the American Heart Association's highest award, The Heart and Torch Award.
